biographical note
Frank Ventrola studied in Philadelphia at Fleisher Art Memorial, Temple University, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In addition, he undertook art classes in New York at Cooper Union, and in Los Angeles at LACC and Otis Parsons.
Over the years, Frank worked commercially as a bullpen artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and
art director in publishing and corporate design for Mademoiselle, American Fabrics, California Broker, African Arts (UCLA), and the Harvard School in Studio City. He created sets at LaMama ETC in New York, and provided prop paintings on feature films in Hollywood, including The Howling, and Sleeping with the Enemy. In 1984 he received Honorary Mention from Los Angeles Art Directors Club.
In recent years Frank has shown work in various open and juried shows, including Out There at Gallery 825, Chaffee Museum, Southern California Collage Society, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, and San Fernando Valley Artists Assn. He continues to work on creative projects at home in Los Angeles.
